Im going to create the mix for Jacks track using my Hercules DJ steel USB mixer , this comes with virtual DJ sofware and to save time I will stick with the default software.
Here is the mixer I will be using
Here is a printscreen of the software that Im going to use
I showed my video to the class and everything was perfect the only criticism that was made was the amount of reverbaration on some of the voices so I opened up Cubase again and then changed the effects on the voices so their perfect.
Im now confident that I have done everything that can be done to my advert.
If I had to do another dubbing over of an advert I would try and record in the perfect acoustic enviroment for each line of the advert for example I would record all the lines that are said outside in an outdoor enviroment , because it adds to how realistic the advert is . Its the attention to the minute details that makes the job proffesional.
I decided that I didnt want to use the MIDI track that I produced as it wasn't appropriate for the advert , their was nothing offensive in the song it was just that it was drum and bass and it just didn't suit the advert.
Instead I have put a cover of "Iggy Pop - The Passenger" over the swift cover advert , it goes with the advert alot better than the song that I had made.
I had to tweak the volume on some of the clips and tone down some of the reverberation as it was a bit overpowering when your trying to listen to what Iggy Pop is saying.
This is the video without the midi track in and just the audio samples
I produced a Midi track before hand I wanted to import into cubase to go with my pink panther movie , but it wouldn't let me so I finished all the samples and sound effects and had to use other software to add my midi track.
I tried to import my Midi Track but I couldn't get Cubase to take it and neither could Tom Anderson or David Golby so I think its some sort of technical problem with the software.
I added the track to soundcloud so that I can still show and explain the track I produced for the video.
Soundtrack Log for Pink Panther Clip I used four different effects on the pink panther audio that plays for the first minute.
I used a Room Works Insert.
A chorus insert. With a Leslie Style Preset
An octaver With a Guitar Solo Preset
And finally a stero enhancer With a Crisp Your pads Preset
Samples I added to the video
At 1.01 I added a sample of a cartoon sounding car. This fits in with the cartoon as at this point the scientist pulls up to the observatory in his car.
At 1.05 I added a sample of a button being pressed. At this point in the clip the scientist presses a button to bring up the telescope.
At 1.15 I added a sample of a scream. At this point in the clip the panther sees that the scientist is looking through his window.
At 1.40 I added a panting sound. The scientist is looking down the telescope at a picture of a woman in a bikini.
Sounds that I need to record
I need to record somebody saying random things so that I can fill in the phone call that the scientist has with the research headquarters in the observatory.
I need the sound of running as well so that I can fill in gaps where the scientist is running around.
I need to record three loud bangs identical to each other so that I can fill in the gap where the Pink Panther is building a wall. --------------- I recorded these sounds and added them to my video. ---------------
Midi that I will use for my video
I produced a song that I want to play after the pink panther music cuts out so that I can have my own backing track that plays for half of the video.
